20 Teams, One Weekend: Dabar Trophy Gave Young Football Its Own Stage with Torneo by Sofascore

For a 12-year-old footballer, seeing Dinamo Zagreb or Rijeka on the fixture list can make an ordinary weekend feel enormous. There is the anticipation before kickoff, the chance to test yourself against a famous badge, and the story you tell your teammates long after the trip home.
At this year's U12 Dabar Trophy in Croatia, those moments were part of a tournament that brought together 20 teams in four groups. Alongside GNK Dinamo Zagreb, HNK Rijeka, NK Lokomotiva Zagreb, NK Varaždin and HNK Gorica were local clubs whose young players arrived with ambitions every bit as big. Teams from Slovenia and Hungary added an international touch.
The groups led into a knockout stage, with Lokomotiva and Varaždin meeting in the final. For the children involved, though, the weekend was bigger than its last match. Every team had its own moments to take home: a first win, a tough opponent, or simply the feeling of representing their club on a stage they would remember.

Dabar Trophy teams find their place on Sofascore
Young footballers know Sofascore as the place to follow the clubs and players they admire. At the Dabar Trophy, they could find their own teams and matches there too.
That visibility matters beyond the touchline. A parent who could not attend could check a fixture. A player could share the team's result with family. A local club's tournament run stayed easy to find after the final whistle. The spotlight was on the teams and the football they played, giving their achievements a place beyond the pitch.
It also meant a smaller club could appear on the same tournament page as some of Croatia's most recognisable academies. The badges may differ, but every team had a fixture to prepare for and a result that mattered to the children wearing its shirt.

Running a 20-team youth tournament with Torneo by Sofascore
A tournament with 20 teams moves quickly. Organizers need to keep groups, kickoff times, results and the knockout bracket clear while matches are happening all around them.
Torneo by Sofascore gave Team Dabar one place to manage that work. Fixtures and results entered through Torneo appeared on Sofascore, making it easier for teams and families to follow the action throughout the day. Instead of scattering updates across messages and spreadsheets, organizers kept the whole competition in one digital workspace.
The purpose is simple: give the people running the tournament more room to focus on the football, and make it easier for everyone else to follow it.

Some Dabar Trophy players may one day reach the professional game. Many will take their love of football somewhere else. Either way, this weekend belonged to them, and their teams' place on Sofascore makes it a weekend they can always revisit.
